A splendid weekend of competitive activity across the club with Northern league action on the track at Churchill. Chevy training: Thursday evening

Run from the Hawsen burn to the Rowan Tree (the tree) on the Harthope burn. An easy climb up Hedgehope (think brisk walk) then run down the racing line to the crags and Brands corner. Jog up the road to the cars. 8miles ish Leave high Heaton 1730 ish aim to depart the white bridge for 1830 -1845. Roman Wall Show fell race.

Next Saturday is the next Heaton hills race, Roman wall show fell race. Entry is 3 quid on the day and the race starts from the showground near to Steel Rigg car park on the Roman wall. Its roughly 5 miles and takes in the world heritage site of Hadrian’s wall and Sycamore gap. The return route is in barbarian territory north of the wall. A busy weeks racing this week with the Clive Cookson 10k, Allendale Fair Fell race and Druridge bay 10k. Dani Smythe was 1st lady at the Clive Cookson 10K organised by North Shields Poly. midweek. Ellen Roberts was 1st lady at the Sunny Allendale fair Fell race on Saturday. Lisa Harpin retained the trophy for Heaton after finishing 1st lady at the very hot Druridge bay 10k today. North east counties 10000 M Championships. Win For Dani Smythe!

Heaton was represented by James Meader and Dani Smythe at Monkton stadium. James had a good race and won the B race outright abd Dani won the ladies  NE championship race by a margin of two laps.! Heaton Harriers are hosting the first fixture of the season at Churchill, Monkseaton on the above date. We need lots of competitors to take part and helpers to assist with the day.
