MONTHLY MILE MONDAY 8TH JULY

Starting at the junction of rutland road and west street .All participants can run an accurately measured mile.The first runner will start at 7.30 so it is advised you get there early to do a proper warm up. This is not a race ,it is basically a personal time trial to give you an indication of youre fitness level.

Monday was a big day for Heaton Harriers as it saw us host the Anita Nott Ladies only 5K Memorial Run through Jesmond Dene and Heaton Park. We started the week with some very sad news when we learned that Keith Rooney, a Heaton Harrier for many years, had passed away. Keith had battled with cancer over the past year and only a few months ago was told he had won that battle. Sadly secondary cancer and complications from his treatment took over and he lost the war. It is with great sadness to say that after battling cancer Keith passed away on Monday 17th of June. Running was an extremely important part of Keith’s life. Keith was a unique character with a flair with words, part of the Heaton Harrier family, and we offer our condolences and support to Keith’s brother Chris Rooney.
