On June 22nd the club will once again be participating in the Heaton Festival, offering activities in the Sport, Health and Wellbeing zone in Heaton Park (usually known as ‘the bit by the tennis courts’). This year, thanks to Alison Janes spotting an opportunity to apply for funds from Newcastle City Council, we’ll have lots of new equipment for activities and games.
This is a busy day in the running calendar, with both the NEMAA Track and Field Championships and Windy Gyle fell race happening. If you’re not competing and are able to spend an hour (or more!) in Heaton Park talking to potential new members about the club and facilitating games for kids, it would be very much appreciated by Alison and I, who will be there all day.
The festival is on from 12-5, but I’ve added some time either side to help set up and pack away. It was a lot of fun last time, and once you’re done there’s loads of food stalls, crafty bits and live music down in Heaton Park. Here’s a poll to add your availability: Heaton Festival volunteers.
