Registration, changing, showers and toilets at Race Headquarters :- Football Pavilion at junction of A1058 Coast Road and St. Peters Road, Holy Cross, Wallsend. Extensive parking on St Peter's Road adjacent to Cemetery.

Women and Over 70s men will run 5km (2 laps), while the rest of the men will run 10km (4 laps). Both races start at the same time. Heaton Championship awards to the first Heaton Harrier individual in each 5 -year age group. While Heaton members will be able to enter on the day, it would be helpful if you could send your entry to George Routledge in advance so we have an idea of expected numbers.

Format of the league:

For the league itself, our men are now in Division 1, and our women are defending the league title they won last season. There is no entry fee for runners. If you have put your name on the list on the noticeboard you can collect your number from the relevant club captain at your first race. Alternatively, arrive in plenty of time to register on the day. Once you are given a number at either the Sherman Cup or one of the league races, you should use this for league races for the rest of the season. Details of the format for the league fixtures are given below:

Senior Men: Races are generally between 5.5 and 6 miles, and start at approx 1:15pm. There are three packs, Fast, Medium and Slow. Anyone running in their first Harrier League race will start in the slow pack. Finishing in the first 30 in any league race will result in you moving up to the medium pack for the rest of the season and the whole of the following season, and you will start two and a half minutes after the slow pack. Running from the medium pack and finishing in the top 20 results in you moving up to the fast pack for the rest of the season, and the whole of the following season, starting 5 minutes after the slow pack. The first 6 Heaton members to finish the race, irrespective of which pack they started in, will count for the team.

Senior Women: Races are normally around 3 or 4 miles. They start after the men's race is finished, probably shortly after 2pm. There are two packs, Fast and Slow, which work along similar lines to the men's. Finishing in the top 10 from the slow pack will take you up into the fast pack. The first 3 Heaton members to finish the race, irrespective of which pack they started in, will count for the team.
